Tottenham Hotspur’s latest signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 has reportedly been involved in a dispute with Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, but has refused to comment on the situation.
The French international goalkeeper and skipper recently finalized a move to White Hart Lane on transfer deadline day. The player is one of the high profile players that have moved to the Premier League this summer.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas had been a huge admirer of the goalkeeper. It was understood that the Portuguese boss was keen on securing his services and viewed him as the long term replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953.
Lloris had also been seeking a move to the Premier League, and with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 having pulled out of the race to sign the player, Spurs looked like favourites.
However, having landed the player, Villas-Boas spoke to the media and said that Lloris will have to make his claim for a spot in the Spurs starting 11. The manager had been highly impressed by Friedel’s performance against Norwich City, and insists that
there is no way Lloris will be starting in goal for Spurs without proving his worth.
These comments would’ve surely been taken in bad taste by the French keeper, who is not used to sitting on the bench. Earlier this week, French national coach Didier Deschamps had spoken about the situation and said that Lloris did not appreciate AVB’s comments
as it hampered his chances of starting in goal for France.
However, Lloris has shown the highest level of professionalism and chosen not to comment on the situation. The 25-year old was starred in France’s 1-0 victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Finland-c2898 last night, and spoke to the press before the game:
"Regarding my personal situation, it is neither the time nor the place to discuss this," he said. "I think I'm professional enough to make sense of things. I am only and entirely focused on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. I have played enough matches in the past to be able to manage
this."
In other news, Lyon goalkeeping coach Joel Bats is convinced Lloris will succeed at White Hart Lane.
"He is one of the best three goalkeepers in the world. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 could play against any player in any league. Now, if he can help Tottenham to the next level, it could be a springboard towards a bigger club."
