I recently bought a 37" hdtv with a built-in digital tv tuner, and when i did the scan for local digital channels in the miami area i notice i couldn't pick up certain channels. But ever since i attached a antenna to the tv i was able to pick up the rest of the digital channels. My question is:- Weren't we suppose to say goodbye to antennas for good? Why are they still needed to pick up hard to get digital channels? I'm currently living on the 4th floor in a apartment. There is no other buildings blocking the apartment. I must say that nbc, cbs, pbs and other stations are easy to get without a antenna but to get fox,abc and others, i will have connect the antenna. The antenna i'm using isn't rabbit ears, it's much smaller and is unoticeable tucked away behind my lcd tv. I know i'm not the only one who have a hard time picking up certain local digital channels. Why isn't this flaw pointed out to people who might be buying analog to digital converter set-top boxes?

  1. No, you weren't supposed to say goodbye to antennas.  You will still need an antenna to pick up off-th-air TV.  You don't need a special "digital" antenna.  Your old antenna will work fine if it was doing the job for the old analog signals.
