  1. I always take an apple, but if you don't have the space for a banana your pretty much screwed..

  2. Sports dronks should do it for 30 miles. But if you crave solid food try a pitted fruit that you like like squished or go for some trail mix or a candy bar.

  3. i always have room for a banana.....

  4. it may sound odd, but i take little boxes of Jaffa Cakes when i'm cycling. They are high in energy and low in fat and recommended by sports scientist as a good snack for eating during in sporting activities.

  5. I drink either half strength Gatorade or Accelerade.

Also I will take a PowerBar or two in my jersey.

Nutrition is sort of a personal thing.  I too tend to shy from bananas.  As to Gatorade, I found the half strength to be easier to digest.  I like the Accelerade, but others do not.

    Keep on experimenting.

PS another friend packs a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  What ever works.

  6. For a ride of 30 miles, I wouldn't worry about any snacks, just bring enough water or sports drink, especially if it's a hot day.

If you must have a snack, just bring some money with you and stop at a convenience store along the route.  If you have a decent breakfast or lunch before you leave, you should be OK for the 30 miles.

  7. high protein sprts bars are the best but muesli or cereal bars or nutrigrain bars

  8. There are some protein bars that actually taste really great. Clif bars and mojo bars (which are made by clif) are the only ones I enjoy and eat when i am not even on my bike. If those do not work then pack a few different nuts in the back of your jersey (if you use one) and suck on your water. If your going on a particularly long ride then add some Gatorade to your water.

  9. just bring water with you and when you get hungry then drink the water to kind of fill you up and then when you have finished your 30 miles then have a nice big meal or a sandwich or something nice because you derserve it.  if you can get a sandwich in your bag to keep you going then do that.  bring lucozade with you because that will bring your energy up.

Good luck on your cycling by the way sorry if i am not much help
