I would love to study Child Psychology, and have discovered a course avaliable to do from home. But are these home learning courses any good? Are they REALLY recognised by employers and other colleges?

  1. Now a days most home studying qualifications are just as good as college based esp if they are actual GCSEs, A LEvels etc. But you cna find out by asking who the examining board are...then you can look them up on the internet to find out if they are legitimate.

I study with the Open University-I know the name, it is well known, it is not just internet based it has a campus etc. I love home study-I can fit it around work, I do it in my own time, and can lay in bed and learn-couldnt do that at college :) so go for it!

PS: You could also speak to UCAS to find out if the baord you are taking exam with is recognised by them.

  2. Investigate more.

  3. It depends on who is offering them and what examination or University is issuing the qualifications.  All unis in UK are adjudicated by HEFCE and other independent bodies, plus the DfEE.

In the UK lots of Unis (plus the OU) offer qualifications that are highly regarded, BTEC and other similar qualifications are also accepted here by employers

who is giving the qualifications; not the place running the course, is the question you need to ask.
