  1. first off, get steps.  make sure you are at your peak speed when your take off foot hits that board. have your steps MARKED so that you know how many steps it will take before you reach the board [example: 7 on the right leg] also take into account the second to last step will be shortened to lower your hips and explode upward.  you should look straight ahead and prepare mentally to take off. making your first couple steps a slow jog and accelerating to top speed is also a good stradegy many athletes use. the faster you run the farther you jump! its physics!

now that you are at your peak speed and have reached the board, you should lower your hips and jump off your entire foot instead of your toes.  this will seem strange at first but jumping off your entire foot incorporates your upper leg muscles en comparison to mostly your calf when jumping off your toes.  As you are taking off, you should slam your foot down into the board as hard as you can. It should make a loud smacking sound.  Jump up and out and with as much explosion as possible.  Once in the air,  GET YOUR LEGS UP, as far as you can! your feet should be up almost to where your face is.  once you land, make sure you fall foward.

    good luck =)
