Longest hitting irons????

Question

What's your opinion? Nickent 3dx, Taylormade r7, Wilson ci7 etc. What set of irons will get the most distance?

Just remember one thing - Golf is not about how far you hit the ball, it is about how many times you hit it.  You should be searching for the most accurate irons.

all iron sets will be different for everyone, you have to go to a real pro shop and try them all, for me its r7's

Taylor Made's are probably a little longer.  Most the stuff they make is simply for distance.  Their new Burner (and Burner Tour) irons are made simply for distance.  Part of it is the lofts on clubs.  Companies continue to make their lofts stronger to make it "appear" you're hitting it longer.  A 9 iron from today is an 7 or 8 iron from 10-15 years ago.  Just something to keep in mind.  Check the specs and look at the lofts of each particular iron.  This is all while keeping in mind irons are for control, not distance.

its all about your style. go to a pro-shop or warehouse, try to get some professional help, and spend a little money trying to see what best suits your game as the professional gives you help. thats how me and my dad came to love our sets...

the r7 will go farther but you will sacrifice accuracy

although if you are a single digit handicap player you can probably hit the ball far enough and could use more bladed irons and score better because bladed irons are more accurate

It really depends on your skill level. Blades are generally the longest but they are difficult to hit unless you're a low handicapper. For wekkend golfers, it's more in the shaft than make. Go to a pro and have him/her evaluate your swing before buying anyhting.

never used any of the above but the Callaway X20's are excellent for distance.

Generally, and this is only because you are a single handicap, tradition blades go the furthest when struck properly.  If I was to recommend a set, try the Titleist 69'5 mb's.  You will gain distance on flush shots.  Also, you might look at shafts as well.  The rifles go a little further than the dynamic gold in general.  But overall, the blades go the furthest when struck properly.
