Looking for travel advice in Spain...?

My wife and I are planing a trip to Spain in late April. We really want to go to Seville, Cadiz and Barcelona. We would like advise about places to stop in between and if anyone knows if the trip will be enjoyable by car or if we should consider other means.

We just want to enjoy the food, wine, culture and country and are not too hung up on needing to hit museums.

Any sort of itinerary or suggestions for a 9 day, 9 night trip is greatly appreciated. Thanks

p.s. Alreadsy asked this question, got 2 answers but accidentally deleted the quesiton and could not view the answers. duh! Thanks!

  1. Well Seville and Cadiz are fairly close to each other but Barcelona is over 500 miles from Seville (they ARE NOT close as the other person said) so you would waste a day driving from Seville to Barcelona and you really wouldn'tg have too much time for stopping and seeing anything along the way.  A better idea would be to Fly into Madrid spend a couple of days there, then take the AVE high speed train to Seville  spend a couple of days in Seville then rent a car drive to Cadiz, spend a night then drive to Granada via Ronda night full day and and night in Granada then drive to Cordoba do a night there and then drive to Toledo the next day , and end up in Madrid.  I baically did this trip the first time I went to Spain.  Madrid is a fabulous city, Cordoba has the Mesquita and Granada the Alhambra, and a fairly close to Seville.  Toledo is also a beautiful city to visit.

Barcelona is  a great palce to visit, but isn't realy "Spanish" and is better to do along with other places in the North, which I did on my second trip to Spain....but alternatively you could fly from Barcelona to Seville and then drive around Andalucia and easily see the places I mentioned except you probably wouldn't have time for Madrid adnd Toledo.

  2. Alright, you can check out San Lucahar (something like that) near Cadiz, about 30min by car. Found this place by accident on our road trip. Its a quiet place near the water, not filled with tourists.

Cordoba and Granada are AMAZING!!!! Those are places you should definately definately check out.

Cadiz was beautiful. Had Ben and Jerrys Ice cream near the Mosque there, YUMMY!

Seville is gorgous city as well. Enjoy the Tapas!!! :)

But those places I mentioned are worth a trip and its on the way to Barcelona and Granada and Cordoba are very close to each other. Took a bus there and I think it took a couple hours to get there.  Granada and Cordoba have a Moorish influence, so be prepared for beautiful change in scenery from Barcelona with influences of Gaudi!

Granada, great place for bargains, they have a great market there, feels like you're in Morocco!

    Enjoy your trip!
