  1. That is exactly what I do with my cam. I have a Firewire (DV) card (it cost $16) on my computer that I connect the camera to.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro, with the Uncompressed AVI setting, so I get the data untouched, but huge.

One tip for you: Use SP mode for shooting videos, the quality is much better than LP. LP shoots for longer, but is quite grainy.

  2. u need some kind of bluetooth

  3. DV compression is lossy, but firewire transfer is lossless, because all it's doing is making a copy of the data. So in other words, when you record to tape you obviously lose quality as compared to uncompressed but the quality stays the same as it gets transferred onto your computer. However, if you want it to stay lossless, you need to export it either uncompressed, with huffyuv, Sheervideo, or a similar lossless codec. Hope this helps!
