Louisiana Death Records 1890?

I'm looking for the death record (or any record, really) of my great-great grandmother Natalie Davis. She died in 1892 or 1893 in Louisiana, in or around Shreveport. What is the best place to look for this record (without having to travel to Louisiana)?

  1. this link got me to the following info.  You will want to write to

    Louisiana State Archives

    P.O. Box 94125

    Baton Rouge, LA 70804.

    http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/howto/w2w/louisi...

I happened to notice what you wrote on a genealogy website about when Frank was born, and since she died in childbirth, his birth date will also be her death date, so you do have a date.  I am not certain whether or not they will have that record, but even if the death records were not collected on the state level prior to 1900 ( which I am not certain where that source of information came from) they may be able to point you in the right direction.  I will see if there is anything about were Shreveport records were kept prior to 1900...

  2. There is no sense checking the SSDI since there were no SSN's until 1935.and unfortunatly, the Statewide Death Index is from 1900 - 1949

If you could edit your question with any other infomation you may have such as her maiden name, approximate date and place of birth, someone may have better luck finding the record for you.
