Low down on the Chevy silverado?

Question

Can anyone give me the lowdown about these trucks, I'm looking at picking one up(used of course) and just want some opinions. whats good and bad about them, are the v6's underpowered? what mileage do they get what problems have you had, do you recommend anything else besides them. Just tell me what you can.

what years are you looking at?  anything after the early 1990's will be good.  Our company uses Chevy trucks exclusively and we rarely have problems, with several of them making it to over 200,000 miles with few problems.  the 6-cylinders of the 1990's moved the trucks well, I can't speak for the later models.  My dad's 1998 Z71 Silverado gets about 22mpg interstate if you're easy on it, and around 17mpg around town.

we have one and love it. Yes the mileage is not good, best was 15, worst 10(pulling a 5th wheel trailer). Do not put in ethanol gas, you will lose mileage...this truck is not rated for it.

However on all else its a great vechile.....we have 4 wheel dr and need it for the winters here.  Have had NO problems at all.

We will NOT trade this truck in even with gas as high as it is.
