  1. I think you will want to be a bit more picky.  The lowest rent is in the middle of nowhere, where there are few if any jobs.  I suggest you find the areas that have your line of work and look for the cheapest there.  

    But of course, people that live in Los Angeles, like myself,  are convinced that all of Texas is the cheapest.


  2. I lived in Denton for a while, and paid $380 for a brand new, beautiful apartment with tall ceilings and skylights.  Loved it!

    Denton is a college town, that is why it is so cheap.  However, it is part of the DFW Metroplex, so it isn't really in the middle of nowhere.
