  1. Theres really not a lot in it as both are within the city centre, just depends what your looking for, Victoria is nearest Printworks centre, bars cafes cinema complex and MEN Arena, Piccadilly is almost right in the centre

  2. i always go to manchester victoria, its not that far from the town centre and those who say it is are just lazy cos its only a 5 min walk, i walk from piccadilly bus station tov ictoria and it takes me max 10mins if i just stroll.

anyway train tickets get u free tram travel so u can always just hop on the trams 2 wherever you're going. victoria's closer to the arndale (shopping), the printworks (including bars, clubs, cinema)and the manchester evening news arena which victoria is actually situated below.

i always feel that piccadilly trainstation is a bit far out from the centre and  victoria has the old victorian style to it whereas piccadilly is a bit more modern

  3. To correct some of the earlier answers, if you have a rail ticket from a station in Greater Manchester and it has a destination of "MANCHESTER CTLZ" then you can use it on the trams in the central zone; ordinary tickets which have a destination of "MANCHESTER STNS" are not valid on trams. CTLZ tickets don't cost any extra, but you have to ask for them - I think it's so Metrolink get a cut of your rail fare. If your rail ticket is from a station outside Greater Manchester then you can buy a ticket to a particular Metrolink stop.... or it might be less hassle just to buy a ticket from the Metrolink ticket machines at Piccadilly or Victoria stations!

  4. both stations are based in the city center.

  5. Picadilly & Victoria are both in london

are you sure u got the right names?

  6. Picadilly - for the town

  7. you want manchester picadilly

  8. Both are walking distance from Manchester city centre, (as is Oxford Road Station), though Piccadilly is bigger and would be my best bet to start from.

Take a look at www.multimap.com, type in Manchester and set it to view train stations, and work out which is closer to where you want to go.

  9. Piccadilly. If you have a valid train ticket, you can get the metro for free. It's a 5 minute metro into Piccadilly Gardens (or get the Bury line if you want to go an extra stop towards the centre- get off at Market Street). It's about 10- 15 minutes walk, so not too bad...

Victoria is more out of the way, and more difficult to find the city centre from. I have lived in Manchester all my life, and I still lose that station sometimes! Victoria is far more convenient for the Manchester Evening News arena, though. Or for Deansgate

  10. Agree with Woody - Piccadilly for the town centre.
