name of company or stock symbol of the MFG of the hybrid locomotive

Railpower is who currently makes the hybrid locomotives in North America.  They have several versions available as well as a Gen-Set version which uses 3 small diesel engines.  The stock symbol for them on the TSX is P.  National Railway Equipment also makes Gen-Set locomotives, but I do not know if they make hybrids.

The other big loco manufacturers are GM and GE... Both are working on hybrids of some sort.

GM sold off the Electro-Motive Division, and is now its own company. They have used 2-cycle diesel engines in their locomotives since the 1930's. They are currently working on improving their 4-cycle engine design (the 265H), and preparing gen-set locos.

GE has its new line of EVO locos out on the market, they are fairly impressive looking.

Id still rather have a old EMD SD40-2 though.........
