the ref did the right thing because as much as thompson was kicking kimbo's ***, that busted cauliflower ear had a good chance of quickly throwing off his balance and kimbo would have had his way with thompson soon after the eruption

the ref has been trained in when to end a fight - none of the answerers here were trained so i don't know why they swear the ref was wrong

I definitely agree. tko means that a fighter is rendered defenseless AND the other fighter is still coming after him. Thompson clearly won this fight! the ref stopped this fight when he saw thompson's ear, when he should have been stopping the fight when kimbo was on his back getting murdered by thompson's elbows

It's a cauliflower ear, a condition caused when the cartilage and blood vessels in the ear are damaged, it frequently occurs with wrestling.  Basically the blood vessels burst and cause the tissue to swell up.

Yes, it ultimately did cost Thompson the match, Ferguson busted the ear open, and it distracted Thompson, allowing Ferguson to rock Thompson with several unanswered punches to the jaw, Thompson was KOed.

It's called "cauliflower ear" and it's common for wrestlers to get it.   I don't think it really cost him the match, I feel like the match was stopped too early because he had gotten dazed like that before and recovered.

Thompson was MANHANDLING Kimbo Slice!

At one point Kimbo looked like a B*tch as Thompson had both of Kimbo's arms pinned to the mat as he rained elbows on Kimbo at will!

The ref saw blood then panicked and stopped the fight!
