If the game seems too long, there are things you can do to speed it up.  First, make sure you play by the published rules - don't put money in Free Parking or double the salary to $400 for landing on Go (which is a common variation).  You can deal all the property cards out at random to start the game, so everyone owns property and you can get right to dealing and building.  Finally, you can check out some of the new game variations - there is a new board with "speed dice" that helps move the actiona long, as well as Electronic Banking Monopoly and Mega Monopoly, both versions should help get your game going faster.
