MP3 player problems?

Question

My MP3 player has new batteries in (just changed them as I thought that was the problem) but it is dead, no lights, no sound, nothing.

But when I plug into my pc it shows all music, plays no problem etc only throught the pc. Any ideas please?

It could be a circuit issue where the batteries aren't actually able to do their job.
