Mail going from USA to Canada?

I live in Michigan and my buddy lives outside Windsor so its only like a 3 hour drive. If I mailed something to him last week Friday, shouldnt he of received it already or does Canada have some sort of Customs? I know when I got something shipped from Europe, it took like 2 weeks because it had to go through customs etc.... but that was coming from Europe so you would think mail going only 300 miles wouldnt take this long.

All mail coming into Canada goes to a mail inspection station in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec and is inspected by Pierre.  François said he will look into it for you because he thinks Pierre is slacking off.

It just depends on what you mailed....

   a letter or small envelope gets there very quickly.  If it was a large package, then it may get stuck in customs.  They put it through xray and other types of testing machines.  In worst case, it gets put aside and has to be manually opened.

However, 6 days does seem like a long time.
