Makeup? when put on looks darker?

okay; well i wear foundation with concealer ; and i have like light skin but no wear near pail. but like light 3 which is natural ivy. now i test it on my arm at the store on my inner arm and matches nice. perfect. but when i go home. and put it on it dosent match with my neck it looks really dark. but it looks like th perfect shade looking at it on my arm or neck... i don't understand... I'm not sure if i should go down to classic ivory or what... http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Face/Foundation/instant-age-rewind-foundation.htm.. here is the chart of colors for this product i like to use... also how come the first one on the light scale looks brown ? ... please help..

Yeah you can't test it on your arm. The skin tone on your arm is way different from your face.

That's why I choose to buy foundation at a department store counter. You can have the sales women help you to find what works best with you skin tone and skin type.They will probably test the foundation on your jawline. That's the most accurate place. Also, never apply foundation to the neck. The shade should be closest to your skin color as possible.

You can never put it on your arm cause your arm skintone is different from the face. What you do is go there without any makeup, and rub it on the jawline so you know its not going to show a line. Also, ask for some help as well, they do that all the time to me and i always know my shade
