Hi

I'm a sophmore (going to be a junior next year) and I go to a small school. All my friends are on varsity and pretty much anyone who is good makes it (we have a very good team.) As a freshmen I SUCKED. So I did JO and I improved a ton...during tryouts this summer I missed the first week of practice and I was automatically placed on JV. I played very well but all my friends are moving up...I play outside and our team doesn't need another outside. I WANT TO QUIT. But I don't want to be a quitter...I just don't want to play on JV anymore we play horrible teams and I know I can do better...and play at a varsity level! I want to do JO but it's so much money..HELP! Thanks

  1. it was kinda the same for me.

i was on jv this yr as a jr. b/c the coach hates me (seriously, i asked him). anywho..

i play club and next summer am going to an elite tournament. I got invited to this from club.

If you really love volleyball ,jo is great. there are always cheaper clubs if money is an issue.and if you play on a good national team, you can get recruited from club.

even if you are not on varsity next yr. you still get to hang out with your friends, if the social aspect is what you enjoy.

You can also move up and take someone's spot halfway through the season if you work your butt off. & if you are indeed playing well at JV level it just makes your coach look bad if the jv is winning and the varsity isn't.

haha, i've had girls from other teams, and other coaches ask me why I wasn't on varsity. lol

  2. are you good at defense?  you shound try being libero.  thats the most rewarding position anyways.  everyone knows it feels so much better to have an awesome dig than an awesome kill or block.

  3. If you love it, try out, you know you'll make it.

If you want to quit, quit, you won't be a quitter, you will be moving on to something you prefer (assuming your season is over).

Either way, practice and you will improve.

  4. just tell your couch how u feel thats how it was for me and i got put on jv from freshman team-this year and i am a freshman...................=)goodluck
