Managing a country in football?

Does anybody think that a national manager should actually come from that country?

a rule for the players should surely be a rule for the managers, coaches etc...

am I missing something here?

i think if the manager is from the country he puts more heart into it..so i do think its better if scotland is managed by scots..wee berti just didn't have a clue what made us tick...and though alot don't agree with walter leaving..he got the scots back on their feet fighting again...saying that i think terry butcher understands the scottish game quite well so hopefully it works for us..

thomas, i dont mind you and chas scrapping between yourselves over that adonis moniker, saves me having to put him in his place.  you two flex your muscles and do a bit of slap and tickle and leave me to satisfy the ladies.

i do believe scots should be managed by scots.  and english managed by english.

I dont think it matters. If a manger is good enough and he is available then should get the chance to manage the national team.

Yeah - i always feel like i dont think there heart would be in it as much if they were foreign, know what i mean e.g England v Italy - would Capello really want Italy to lose?

No definitely not. When Steve McClaren joined our side (England) in 2006, he made a mess of everything and as a result, we didn't qualify for Euro 2008. Now we have a proper manager, Fabio Capello, as our English manager, and we don't care whether he lived in Italy, or anywhere else for that matter, as long as he delivers.
