History suggests that the south won the First battle of Bull run. This battle was to set the stage for the bloodiest 4 years that our nation would ever face. My feeling is that no one  actually won this battle, had the south not been wearing blue uniforms on this occasion, and flying flags that mirrored imaged the national flags the outcome would have been different.The second battle was a southern victory, and proved entrenched troops would always could always control the field, despite the differences in troop numbers.

There were two battles of Manassas, also known as Bull Rin, just over a year apart. The Confederates won them both.

The first Battle of Manassas was won by the Confederate Army of the Potomac under the command of P.G.T. Beauregard and the Confederate Army of the Shenandoah under the command of Joseph E. Johnston (a combined force of around 32,500). They defeated the Union Army of Northeastern Virginia under the Command of Irvin McDowell (force of around 35,000)

The second Battle of Manassas was won by the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia under the command of Robert E. Lee (a force of around 50,000). They defeated the Union Army of Virginia under the command of John Pope (a force of around 62,000).
