Marching band question

This is my 3rd year in marching band but i still have major foot pain...it has gotten better each year but its still excruiating..i bought some arch supports today hoping they will help later..we are marching 8am-12pm and 5-9pm everyday for this week and next week..i also took 2 aleve but it didnt seem to help..ne advice

  1. It sounds like you have plantar fascia problems or Morton's' foot, or plain old flat feet. Dr. Scholls arch supports will help, as will some good gentle stretching of the arch of the foot & calf of the leg.

    Also, a nice hot foot soak with epsom salts always helps with foot pain. If you have access to a sauna-even better.


  2. Different shoes mabye walking shoes from foot locker or gel pads for your foot

  3. Hey, im gonna start this off by saying i know your pain. I have muscular dystrophy and im in marching band. What has helped me the most is to figure out how long i can go before it hurts. If you know your threshold you can work it out yourself. Make sure your marching fundamentals are good and you should be fine. For backwards marching if you do it like us and not go down on the heals, lean against a wall and lift your heels up untill they hurt, and try to do it longer and longer as you go.

    For forwards marching i suggest major streching. Also running a bit to build your endurance helps too!
