being rejected for so long you completely lose track of other people and decide you're better than them, probably. i think that's at least part of it.

having someone in your life (presumably a girlfriend/boyfriend, but could be a so-called friend or family member) who takes you for granted & walks all over you just because they can, and thinks they're better than you & doesn't really care about you the way they should in whatever type of relationship you have...and then you realizing that you're better than that, and deserve better, and you removing that person from your life, but then you still sort of miss them in a way, because as much as they really didn't give a **** about you, you really did care for them.

I'm sorry that was very jumbled & one very long, awful sentence. It's just the way it was flowing after I went & looked up the lyrics. (I haven't heard that song in ages.)
