I'll admit it, I sometimes watch Oprah.
I just watched a commercial for an upcoming show on Oprah called 'Why did you get married?' In the commercial is shows couples struggling to answer the question. Although this particular show hasn't been aired yet, it's no secret that Oprah is not a huge fan of marriage.
Do you think it's going to be about how marriage is not necessary?
With 70% of black children being born out-of-wedlock, do you think it's responsible of her to promote her views that marriage isn't necessary? We know that children born out of wedlock fall through the cracks and are many times more likely to suffer many forms of dysfunction from prison, to sexual abuse (victim and perpetrator), etc...
Another thing I want to know, and I hope no one construes this is as racist... Is marriage not part of African and black culture? Whether in Africa or the US, black people are not likely to get married. Could the lack of marriage be a cause of why so many Africans and black Americans suffer?
Thanks.
