Marriage records for free?

I am helping my family throw a 50th wedding anniversary for my grandparents but we are trying to keep everything a surprise. Well as much as we can. I was trying to get their marrage records online but even the sites that claim that they are free aren't. Does anyone know of a site that really lets you look at them for free?

Why does it have to be free?  Pony up a few dollars, geez.  It's a gift.

You can't even get it free from the city/county clerk, so I'd be prepared to fork over a few dollars.
