  1. This is the way you do it:

    2x-y=9

    x+y=9

    since one equation has -y and the other one has +y, the equations would come too

    3x = 18

    x = 18/3 = 6

    Since X=6  and X+y = 9

    y =3

    X=6, Y=3 is the answer

  2. Anwar Bhai! answer is

    4. x=6,y=3

  3. Question

    Math help???????????

    2x-y=9

    x+y=9

    add

    3x=18

    x=6

    only choice is #4 and it works

    is it,

    1.x=4,y=5

    2.x=9,y=9

    3.x=18,y=-9

    4.x=6,y=3

  4. you add the two eq

    3x = 18

    x=6

    6+y=9

    y = 3

    Ans is #4.

  5. 2x-y= 9

    x+y=9

    1) Get one variable by itself; im gonna get 'y' by itself from the second equation.

    2) 2x-y= 9

         y= 9-x (subtracted 'x' to get y by itself.

    3) Replace the 'y' in the first equation, with the 'y' from the second equation.

    2x- (9-x)= 9

    4) Distribute

    2x-9+x= 9

    5) Combine the x's; 3x-9= 9

    6) Take the 9 of the left, and add it to the 9 of the right, and you get 18.

    3x= 18; divide by 3-----> x= 6

    7) Now just replace the 6 into the 'x' of any of the equations.

    2(6) -y= 9

    12-y= 9

    8) Subtract 12 from both sides and you get -y= -3; now get rid of the negative in front of the 'y' and then divide it from the -3 too.

    y= 3

    So, the answer is 'D'; x= 6, y=3

    Good Luck.

  6. 4 because if you substitute the other answers in they dont work...

  7. x=6,y=3

    how to verify ?

    in each of equation try to replace x by 6 and y by 3

    e.g. in equation 2

    x+y=9

    6+3=9. So x=6 and y=3 is corect.

  8. 4.

  9. x=6, y=3

    2x6=12  -3=9

    6+3=9
