b) each piece of tile measures 12 inches by 12 inches, how many pieces will you need to cover the floor.

1 foot =12inchs

c. you are trying to cool your bedroom using an old air conditioner. the ratng on the air conditioner claims that it is suitable for volumes under 600 ft3. what is the volume of your bedroom if the dimensions are 10feet x 10 feet x 8 feet ?

you answer should be in cubie feet using the equiation v=; x w x h

Please help, thank you very much!

  1. a)  Area of the Room is

        6 X 8 = 48 Square feet

    b) Each peace is 12 X 12 Inches meaning that it is effectively

        1Square foot

         This means therefore the room will take 48/1

          You will need 48 Pieces to cover the room

    c) Using V=l X w X h

         Volume = 10 X 10 X 8 = 800 Cubic ft

          Therefore the Air Conditioner is not suitable for your room

  2. a) area= length* breadth

    = 8*6

    = 48 sq. feet

    b) area of tile in sq. ft= 1*1

    = 1 sq. ft

    no. of pieces required= area of room/area of tiles

    = 48/1

    =48 tiles

    c) v= 10*10*8

    = 800 cubic ft

  3. a. You are given the dimensions of the bathroom floor, 8' and 6'. To find area, use the formula A = l x w (say "length times width").

    So, simply multiply 8 feet and 6 feet.

    A = 8ft x 6ft

    A = 48 sq. ft. (multiplying ft. will yield square ft.)

    .: The bedroom floor has an area of 48 sq. ft.

    b. Each tile is 1'x1' in dimension since 12in = 1ft.

    To find how many tiles will be required to cover the floor, just divide the total area of the floor by the area of each tile.

    A(tile) = 1ft x 1ft

    A(tile) = 1 sq. ft.

    A(floor) / A(tile) = 48 sq. ft. / 1 sq. ft. = 48 tiles

    .: You will need 48 tiles.

    c. You obtain volume by multiplying all three dimensions of a rectangular prism: V = l x w x h (say "length times width times height")

    Given the dimensions 10ft, 10ft and 8ft, simply multiply all to get the volume of the room.

    V = 10ft x 10ft x 8ft (multiplying ft. three times will yield cubic feet)

    V = 800 cu. ft.

    .: The 800 cu. ft. bedroom cannot be cooled by the old air conditioner.

  4. A) area of the room is 8ft*6ft=48ft2

    B) 48ft2/1ft2=48 (ie. 48 tiles are needed)

    c) volume of room is 10ft*10ft*8ft=800ft3

  5. Area is length times width. The area is (8*6) or 48 square feet

    Each piece of tile is one square foot.  Since you know the area is 48 square feet, you will need 48 tiles

    The volume of the room is 10*10*8=800 cubic feet.  The air conditioner is rated too small to cool your room.

    _/

  6. width times length =sq ft 6x8 b 12in x 12 in =1sq foot length x width x heigth

    =cubic feet do the numbers
