    a French mathematician and philosopher from

    long ago who is credited with the idea of plotting

    points and functions on the X-Y axes, or plane.

    He is also famous for the saying "I think, therefore I am."

    ("Cogito ergo sum" in Latin.)


  2. To find the x intercept you plug in 0 for y and solve for x, in this case the x intercept would be 4.

    To find the y intercept you plug in 0 for x and solve for y, in this case it'd be -8.

    To find the slope, it's easiest to put it in slope intercept form (y=mx+b), which would be y =2x-8. The slope is the number in front of the x, so 2.

    I'm pretty sure the cartesian coordinate plane is just the fancy name for the regular coordinate plane with the x and y axis
