It's nearly impossible for a rookie QB to be successful. It happens sometimes, as with Marino, but it happens very, very rarely. It's going to be a long year for Ryan and the Falcons.

To d nice, the Falcons actually do have a weapon on offense--RB Michael Turner. I agree though. He won't get a whole lot done because he'll be too busy looking up because he'll be on his back a lot.

As others have mentioned, Atlanta really didn't have much to choose from  the QB on their rosters.  Harrington is horrible and Redman is average at best.  Ryan is definitely the best out of the 3 and they invested heavily in him.  

The only problem is that he don't have much of an O-Line to protect him.  The Falcons kept their qb's scrambling due to a lack of protection over the past few years.  So with Ryan's inexperience and the weak o-line, I would say Matt goes 10 TDs and 12 Ints.  The Falcons may go 5-11 or 4 -12.

I really wouldn't say Ryan would be a bust if he struggles his first year because they are still trying to build a team around him.  We will know if he is a bust 3-4 years from now.  

But this should be a re-building year for the Falcons.

he will be the starter but it will take him some time to adapt to his team and his teamates

this guy could be good but that's not gonna happen this season, because he has no team around him, he will have to have  a skill that can get him out of trouble (mike vick ability to run) and since he doesnt have that he will have a horrible season and just hope they can build a team
