Mcafee update?

I have mcafee ver.8.5i in my system.I downloaded the latest .dat file zip.Can anybody tell me how to update my mcafee with this? the zip contains some .dat,.ini & one validate.exe file.Clicking on it doesn't trigger anything. I tried pasting the files in my mcafee directory..but the version shown is still same.Please help,thanks in advance

i too have mcaffe but the version is 10.0 i have only virus scan pro u? For updating virus scan pro first u gotta register which costs but my new computer already had subscription so i had to only register. After register click on the update button and u would be directed to a webpage. On it click download now. U will get the latest dat version. After that virus updates will be automatically installed after intervals of 2-3 days.

But mcaffe is really worthless. Firstly it has a difficult update procedure, secondly either it detects lots of viruses or none and also interrupts between work detecting same typa viruses. But i like its red color icon.
