  1. This bird is going to take alot of patience and time.  You do not know how he was treated before you got him.  My guess is that he was treated poorly.  Start first by just sitting next to his cage  every so often talk  quietly to him. This may take a long time but he will learn that you are not going to bang on his cage or poke at him.  After a while sit next to him and open his door.  Do not try to take him out.  Let him decide to do this(he will go inside by himself) so dont try to make him go inside.  After he is at ease with you sitting  there  you might try offering him a peanut or a  slice of  fruit.

Patience is the key never try to force your will on him.  Remember someone had a lot of time to treat him poorly and it will take a awhile for him to trust people again.

  2. Try and figure out why he is biting. Is he scared by how big humans are compared to him? Is he stressed? Injured? Keep working with him, get him used to you, don't be afraid of a few bites because they are likely to happen, and remember, don't panic if you are bitten and fling the bird off. Look up how to remove a bird that has bit you and refuses to let go. :D Goodluck!
