Mechanics please help im stumped.....

Question

ok well i have a big problem with my car....ok when i start it up its fine no hesitation or ne thing but when i put it into drive an accelerate it doesn't respond right away then you will feel a jerk and it will go a little then it will jerk again then it is normal....the only thing i could think was that it was the spark plug wires i just put in but everyone said its not them....iI'm stumped

btw i have a 1997 chevy lumina 3.1

Some of the gm cars have an oil breather that connects to the intake. This is rubber and usually wears out and cracks and breaks. I had a pontiac with the same problem but replacing that tubing fixed the problem. It might also be the spark plug wire's, your supposed to replace those with your spark plugs about every 5 years or every 100,000 miles dont believe what other's say unless they actually tested the wires and are certified to work on your specific car. since you car is a 97 its over due for wire and spark plug change for 6 years unless you already changed the wires and spark plugs.

A transmission doesn't go out unless you drive like a maniac so that shouldn't be the problem . you should check your hoses they might have cracks or are lose, they should be replaced about every 6-7 also.

sounds like transmission. Check the fluid?

maybe its the automatic clutch that's not engaging fully?

you really should have it checked out though, it would suck if your car stalled in the middle of the road.

Was this problem the reason you replaced the wires?  If so,,,, then maybe the wires were not the problem.  You are either loosing fire, or loosing fuel.  

Assuming you did not have this problem when you replaced the wires, this may be a result of that job.

Check your plugs, to make sure one is not loose, or that you did not break one.  Check the wires to make sure you have them on good and tight,,,,,a good electrical connection is mandatory.  Make sure you did not disconnect any vacume hoses when you put on the wires.

ignition coil, bad catalytic converter or worse your timing belt.........if you can get it down to o'reilley auto parts you can use their diagnostics for free

sounds like an engine problem mabey some of your pistons arent firing
