How come when some black guy rob a person, the media says an unidentified male, early twenties, etc..

But when a White, Mexican, Asian, Middle Eastern guy robs somebody, the media gives full description.

Such as Example:

Black Robber: Early this morning, a young female claimed to have been rob by a unidentified male in his twenties. Suspect was wearing blue jeans, white t-shirt with a red cap.

White Robber: Early this morning, a young female claimed to have be robbed by a young Caucasian male in his twenties. Suspect was wearing blue jeans, white t-shirt and a red cap.

Who's out for whitey?

  1. Actually, the exact opposite of what you say is true.  When the perpetrator of a crime is a minority, they almost ALWAYS show the picture and when it is someone white, they just don't show anything.  This has been documented and contributes to the stereotype that blacks commit more crimes.

The Black Image in the White Mind illustrates ways in which negative media images of African Americans are disproportionate and arguably harmful to race relations:[14]

A mug shot of a black defendant is four times more likely to appear in a local television news report than of a white defendant.

The black accused is twice as likely to be shown physically restrained in a local television news report than when the accused is white.

The name of the accused is two times more likely to be shown on screen in a local TV news report if the defendant is black, rather than white.

According to Lawrence Grossman, former president of CBS News and PBS, TV newscasts "disproportionately show African-Americans under arrest, living in slums, on welfare, and in need of help from the community."[19] African-Americans are misrepresented for several reasons. Although FBI statistics show that most violent crimes involve others of same race, there is a common misconception that crimes by black people against white people are more common.[20]

  2. Well, (1/2 joking, 1/2 seriously) all the police have to do is find a Black person that fits the description, and it's good enough for them (them being the justice/penal system). As long as somebody is found guilty, and at least comes close enough to being the right person, it's case closed. That's how it was done less than 50 years ago, and in under-the-table ways of course, they still do it today. Not a whole lot has changed beside how it's done.

There are thousands of people in US prisons and jails today who are actually innocent of the crimes they were convicted of. There is an increasing number of people who are having their sentences reduced, or overturned all together because new evidence, or people confessing, are proving the individual's innocence.

Other than that, the media has never been fair, it's not it's job to be fair and truthful (although I would say that it is the media's responsibility to be fair and truthful, but they don't care about that). The media's job is to spread propaganda for the people who control society's institutions (the rich and powerful). To spread the political and social views of the people who own the media outlets. That's why all you see is biased cop shows/movies and movies/TV specials on prisons, all of which depict the justice system from the perceptive of the police/judges/lawyers/etc. - the few comments they get from the prisoner/suspect is just to help create public appeal, nobody cares what the prisoner is going through.

The media sways the ideas/views of the public so they'll support politicians who say they'll be "tough" on crime (which only means increasing prison sentences, as well as having people sent to prison for less and less serious crimes), knowing that prison is a multi-billion dollar industry, and making many middle class and ruling class people rich.

    Time for a change.

    Peace

  3. The media is being more racist by saying it that way.
