Mediacom DVR question?

I currently have Mediacom DVR service with one DVR. I have another TV in the house that gets cable but does not have a DVR attached to it. I would like to get a DVR for that TV but Mediacom is restricting DVRs to one DVR per house. If I were to buy a DVR of the same model, would I be able to use that for the other TV or does the box have to come from the cable company for it to work. Thanks in advance.

  1. every cable company is different probably has to come from the cable company you should call your provider and ask them
