Medicine and going to another country?

I get my medicine covered by state, if I move to another country like Holland, Europe or France could I some how get it covered there to

  1. yes you can. i would arrange it before you move though so you def know. maybe you should ask the people that supply your medicine for some advice on this too?? :)


  2. In that respect the NHS is pretty unique as most (all?) of the rest of Europe works on an insurance basis.  For example here in the Netherlands it is mandatory for all people to purchase health insurance.

    There are different levels of coverage depending on which cover (and so which monthly premium) you pay for.  The monthly cost for a basic cover is about €100 (so about 80 quid per month)

    Whilst you have a degree of coverage abroad under the EHIC system as a UK tourist, if you move to another country this is no longer applicable.  Being resident in another country means that you have to follow the same system & costs etc
