Medieval codes of honor??

So I am writing a report on codes of honor for medieval times, and why people would behave in such a way, seems like google would fix this right? umm not so much so I get lists of how a knight is or was to behave, yay, but I need some more info, any history buffs PLEASE help me, I also need the Hierarchy, and why people would behave in such a way, not looking for someone to writ this for me, just input please

Knights used to practice chivalry, which I suppose would be a form of a code of honor.  Knights would be extremely courteous to ladies, they wouldn't kill their enemies if fighting in a duel, they wouldn't fight/kill an unarmed enemy, and they wouldn't fight an enemy that wasn't mounted if they were on horseback.

  4. i cant answer everything, but the hierarchy was put there for people to behave a certain way, this kept the peasants in place and the royals with respect, it gave structure in the medieval times. And with people born into having a certain place in the social structure, they did not need to ask why, things simply were what they were. At least that is what i got from my history class
