Medinas primed to win Novices’ Hurdle
Medinas looks to be in the most favourable position to win Messier-Bugatti-Dowty Novices’ Hurdle, a high-voltage Class 2 contest that is going to take place at Cheltenham racecourse on Wednesday, April 18.
The champion trainer Alan King’s talented bay and brown gelding will confidently face seven competitors such as Big Easy, Bold Chief, Captain Sunshine, Jimbill, Polisky, Master Of The Game and Regal Flow.
Containing £7,507 of prize cheque, the mega marathon over a distance of 2 mile, 4 furlongs and 110 yards is scheduled to commence at 2:00 (GMT).
Medinas has been delivering impressive performances since the very beginning of his career. After getting a runner-up rank in his maiden outing, the five-year-old veteran runner moved forward to notch up top spot in the very next race on March 5.
During the month of December, the brilliant gelding marvellously grabbed a runner-up position and a third in a row.
King’s talented sprinter extended his winning momentum to 2012 as well and bagged a couple of consecutive victories each on March 5 and April 3.
Now, he is on a hat-trick, therefore, today’s race holds great significance for him.
Medinas seems to be awash with enthusiasm and confident to seal success in the Novices’ Hurdle. If he avoids making any mistake on the track, his chances to thrive will be as high as 95 percent.
Among the other runners, Big Easy and Captain Sunshine are potential enough to trigger upsets in the race.
Big Easy won a race each in January and February 2012. Philip Hobbs’ bay gelding went ahead to finish 7th in his last outing on March 17. Overall, he has won 5 out of his total 11 starts to date.
On the other hand, Captain Sunshine nicely earned a runner-up position in a race on February 18, 2012. Emma Lavelle’s bay gelding clinched top spot in his last start on March 17. He has run for 5 times to date.
