Mediumship? Contacted Edgar Cayce?

First of all, I'm no psychic, but I predict that 99%, if not 100% of you will laugh at this question in a disbelieving tone. I can hardly blame you.

I affirm that the following is true, however. Around two weeks ago, my friend (who is apt to potentially psychic ability; she feels vibes and occasionally sees/hears presences and such) and I decided that I should undergo hypnosis to see if there were any spiritual presences that were in or around me (I'd had 'experiences' before, at night.) After an amateur attempt at putting me in a trance and less than five minutes, I was speaking in another tone of voice and crying hysterically. She called it away, but another presence came up until she asked it to leave as well, and I was alone.

We spoke to a psychic (for free) via phone, and she told me I was a "foghorn" channel for spirits b/c of my openmindedness. I've practiced closing my mind when not trying to channel, but I've had several instances since then where I'll start to shake...

  1. You are right to be skeptical.  If you think it was too easy and the explanation does not really fit, go with your own intuition.

You are dealing in an area in which most of us human beings do not have a lot of knowledge, so it is easy to misinterpret.

Those who caution about dangers should be listened to, but don't let that scare you off.

  2. You are playing with nitroglycerin. I'd take witchmel8's advice to heart and stop playing foolishly.

  3. I did not laugh.  I believe that you and your friend could believe this is all really happening.  It sounds like you're easily impressionable and open to suggestion.  (Otherwise you wouldn't be open to hypnosis.)  I also know you have more than a passing interest in things like mediums and channeling.  However, everything you have described could also have a psychological source.  Everything you have described--intuition, psychic ability, the mediumship of Edgar Cayce, spirituality, channeling--can be invented by you and your friend.  It's neither verifiable nor disprovable.  I'm not saying you are lying, but I am saying it isn't true.

EDIT: If you believe you can channel Cayce, then you probably have the type of fantasy-prone personality required to believe you can be possessed or haunted by evil spirits.  So you may want to seriously consider the advise of the superstitious out there who are cautioning you.

  4. I don't doubt that you contacted someone....but some spirits can be very deceptive. I got deceived. You have to use discernment. Don't believe everything they tell you. They'll just make you look like a clown. Be careful who you tell this to. "Trust but verify."

  5. I did not laugh.

  6. I didn't laugh.

It doesn't sound like anything but power of suggestion to me. You believed Cayce would contact you, you "felt" a presence, you attributed it to Cayce. All this is well within the realm of power of suggestion and the tricks we can play on ourselves.

  7. Well, what I'm going to say is not fully agreed upon by others that believe in this kind of stuff.

That being said, I don't think you're crazy, however, it is never necessary to have a spirit enter your body or go into deep trance to deliver accurate spirit communication.

I have been a channeler for over 7 years and I speak from experience. When you allow a communication and/or possesion to come through like this, it blasts open your crown chakra. It wounds it. We are all born with a sort of spiritual protection there that prevents possesion. When you do it by choice, then that protection is gone.

Although the spirit trying to communicate may have positive reasons, this type of communication allows other entities and spirits to come in at will. This is why your friend had to get rid of two spirits.

To do what you did without first calling on some sort of protection is bad news and I am surprised that your friend didn't know better.

I would suggest these things to get you back on tract and help heal your crown chakra.

    1. Take a salt bath and make sure that you dunk your head. This will help cleanse your aura and chakras.

    2. Focus on some grounding and shielding techniques. (I'll leave you a couple of links.)

    3. Start asking for the assistance of your Guide for any spiritual activity. Or you can choose to work with the Angels, they can provide you protection and assist as well.

    4. Don't do this ever again.

Edgar Cayce may have contacted you but the odds that he is your spirit guide is slim. Not because he is famous but because he didn't protect you from the entry of the other spirits or entities.

Lastly, this is obviously a gift that you didn't know that you had. You need to take care of yourself now. Decide on where your spirituality lies and what has changed for your belief system after this happening. Decide for yourself what you believe in. This is important because you need to have a strong spiritual foundation so you can be better protected and help others without harming yourself.

Lastly, I have seen and experienced some crazy stuff and so I hope you take everything that I have said seriously. Everything I have said is honestly to help.
