Question:

Melbourne tram fine?

Last week I got a fine on a Melbourne tram for not having a ticket. I told the guy my address but since I recently moved, I accidentally told him the wrong number of my house. I didn't have anything on me to confirm my address or my phone. I've phoned them about it but the guy on the phone said he cant do anything about it. I sent a letter into them today as well. I'm quite worried I'm going to get into trouble for 'giving false information' or something. What should I do about it and do you think they'll fine me extra for giving false information, even though I phoned them and tried to change it etc?

  1. go and sign a stat. Dec re the matter ...

you seem to have done your best to rectify the matter.

  2. Don't worry about this. I've got a fine from 7years ago from catching a Tram. They Don't really care. They have bigger fish to fry. I didn't give them false info but the guy spelt my address wrong and of course I didn't correct him. It's not my fault. I will just tell them that he spelt it wrong & that's why I never paid it because I didn't recieve it. I can't believe your even worrying about this. lol

  3. You've made reasonable efforts to fix the problem so I'm sure you won't be at fault, don't worry. A lot of people wouldn't have bothered doing anything, so I think they'll be impressed if anything!
