  1. All kingsnakes have the same general needs (as far as I know). King snakes are ferocious feeders, and will consume nearly anything smaller than they are. A 100-125 watt bulb is fine during the day. Tank size should be large enough for them to move freely. A 3 foot king snake should be in nothing smaller than a 40 Gal, 55 would be better. Kingsnakes are easy to keep, and awesome pets. What more do you need to know?

  2. I'm gonna have to slightly disagree with the first answerer. I breed kingsnakes and have 5 different subspecies of them. A 20 gallon long is perfectly fine. Mexican blacks don't get very big and can be comfortable in a 20. A 125 bulb is a little excessive. Personally, I wouldn't go over 75 watts. But a heat pad will work just as well, if not better. All kingsnakes are excellent escape artists, so make sure they can't get out. They're all very easy to care for.
