Mexican illegal help please?

Ok, my aunt was stoped by a police officer in New orleans, Louisiana. She is illegal, I heard that in Texas you can get a driver's license using a "matricula consular". So my question is can she get one using that, if yes then where, what number to call?

The first thing your aunt needs to do is go back to Mexico an come back LEGALLY.  once that has happened she can get a drivers license and not follow those laws like every other American.  If she wants to remain in America ILLEGALLY then she should be deported immediately-or sooner.

A driver license is no longer used solely as a document demonstrating authorization to drive. The driver license or identification certificates are the nationally accepted form of identification and both are used daily to establish identity at airports, banks, when writing checks, voting, or applying for governmental aid. Due to their extensive use as a person's primary source of identity the department has the responsibility to correctly determine an applicant's identity.

All original applicants for a Texas driver license or identification certificate must present proof of identity satisfactory to the department. (All applicants for a driver license must also provide proof of their social security number). All documents must be verifiable by the source that issued the document.

There are three categories of documents that may be presented to establish proof of identity. Every original applicant must present:

one piece of primary identification; or

one piece of secondary identification plus two pieces of support identification; or

two pieces of secondary identification.

She needs to be deported , she is illegal ! There is no help for here her in the USA .

To obtain a drivers permit in any US State one has to show immigration documentations , a valid social security number and in order to get a ss# one need to produce a EDA / work permit..

Does she have a passport? I know for sure that you can get a driver's license in TX without a social security number, but she does need some kind of identification so the matricula might work. You have to get some kind of form and fill it out. My sister in law did it like that. She downloaded it from the internet. And, no, she is NOT illegal, in case some of those racist idiots are wondering. She is legal but didn't have a social security number back then. There are a lot of LEGAL immigrants who don't have a social security number (such as students or dependents) and they are still allowed to drive.

To all of those people that only show hatred toward the immigrants: you are only reflecting your ignorance. Immigration, legal or illegal, is a consequence of the disrespectful practices that the US has with the rest of the world. Get out of your little bubble that you live in, open your eyes and SEE what the US does outside of its territory... you will be surprised (though you may not have the intelligence to fully understand what happens in the rest of the world).

I have to vote with those who suggest she go home and apply to come here legally.  That's the only way I know she can legally obtain a driver's license.

She can drive with her Mexican driver's license and her valid passport w/ current visa.  To apply for a Texas driver's license, she'll need the id listed on the website below and her personal social security number.

In other words, no, Texas does not issue driver's licenses based on a Matricula Consular.  

She needs to stop driving illegally and endangering other motorists.
