Migrant Vietnamese Pre-K?

I usually answer and know somebody can help (many great answers) I observed/taught ,one day last week, in a pre-K for children who are new U.S. citizens from Vietnam. I have worked is some ESL programs within Hispanic communities but never with children from Vietnam. I am taking a position (at this center) as a co-op mentor/teacher. Can you give me your wisdom about your experiences that might be specific to this culture ,or with experiences you learned from similar to this. I know some of you work with children now in other countries. All help is applauded. Great answers from a bunch of you!!!!

  1. no matter what you do in this age group they will love to learn  new things.  You might even learn from them

  2. Learn to recongnize if they need to use the bathroom especially...and I'm not kidding, I'm Vietnamese myself but was born here but wasn't introduced to English until pre-k.  Some other major actions would come in handy too. Good Luck!!
