Question:

Miguel Cotto vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

Everyone is saying that Mayweather is the better fighter however I'm highly skeptical of that. I've seen Cotto fight and it's pretty obvious that he has devastating body punches that cripple his oponents, a lot of power, and he can take one h**l of a beating without running or backing down. He also has a much higher knockout percentage that Mayweather although we have to take in consideration that he has less fights. Stating this it's also important to notice that Mayweather has speed and agility. I am one of those people that believe that Mayweather is trying to duck Cotto. I want to hear your opinion on this issue.

Is Mayweather trying to duck Cotto???

and

Who would be more likely to win if they both fought and why???

personally I would throw my bets on Cotto but I want to hear everyones opinion on it

  1. I would honestly place my best on Mayweather, but I won't count Cotto out. Mayweather is clearly the best defensive  boxer in the world right now. He also has the fastest hands, the fastest reflexes, and the best technique. Mayweather has never faced someone like Cotto at 147, however, the same is true for Cotto, he has never faced someone like Mayweather in his career. Cotto is the best body puncher in the division, the most aggressive, and has a lot of heart and fearlessness. He also has a bad chin and bad defense, something that Floyd will certainly exploit.

Cotto is, like Mayweather, a fighter who had to move up a couple of divisions to fight at 147, so I really don't think there will be a power advantage on either side.  I would say that Mayweather wins by UD or late TKO, but most likely UD, as he will probably play it safe with Cotto.

  2. i would say miguel cotto win b.c he has alot of power and he is fighting other people not for the money but for the fans and puerto rico while mayweather is fighting for himself and he fighting the same people by the way viva puerto rico!!!!!

  3. cotto needs a few more high profile fights before mayweather is going to give him one.  mayweather may realize cotto is a threat, but even if he wasnt, at this point in floyds career it wouldnt matter if cotto was a threat or not, cotto needs a few more fights to cement himself.  maybe if de la hoya and cotto fight, that would probably result in a floyd-cotto fight.

as far as who wins... who knows, floyd is a runner, a pop shot dull fighter.  depends on how good cotto can stalk and box at the same time.  i say floyd by a decision, and he runs the whole fight.  if he stands with cotto, cotto easy.

  4. floyd id say for the 100 time  easy...... as all you floyd fans no i see what you see.

but as its alex question and ive only won 4 best answers       and want to win so bad im going with my good pal alex  that cotto wins and floyd you need to get a grip sort your hend out  or ill tell big floyd your dady and  you want an aaaassssswwoooppping  like the old days.

  5. it will be a great fight... two undefeated boxers going against each other... that will definitely draw a huge crowd... i'll go for Cotto for his power punch... he might be slow and defense-less but the power and strength he got is really amazing... Mayweather is fast but Cotto can wear him down if only he'll be very patient in connecting punches against the pretty boy... Cotto should let mayweather attack him rather than Cotto attacking mayweather... Wait for the chance and throw that huge and powerful combinations... wow! you can see mayweather kissing the canvass...

  6. First off anyone who says Mayweather wins easy isnt being realistic. If someone wants say he can win im sure there is some points to help that arguement.

But my money is on Cotto, Mayweather can use his speed but Cotto has always managed to cut the ring off. To some pretty speedy fighters such as Mosley and Malinaggi. and Mayweather has great hand speed and head movment but Cotto is a body puncher and Mayweather has never been hit with a cotto type punch.

If Cotto where to pin Floyd on the ropes like De la hoya did when he got about ten straight hits on him theres no dought Mayweather goes down for the count and i think Cotto can trap him in corners being the DLH did it so many times in his fight and he is without a dought past his prime unlike Cotto Who is in his.

  7. Perhaps Mayweather is just dodging cotto, but Floyd is only in it for the money. As for who would win, Mayweather, easily. Everybody says that Mayweather has never faced anybody with Cotto's power, but much more importantly, Cotto has never faced anybody with nearly as much wit and skill as Floyd.

  8. mayweather is not ducking cotto. He doesnt want to fight a high risk/low reward fight. its not worth it. plus, cottos promoter, bob arum, does not get along with mayweather, therefore its hard to do business. but after Cotto and Margarito clash. Mayweather WILL fight the winner of that fight. Be patient u guys, remember he's also a business man. he's just playing his cards rite, and he doesnt care if u like it or not. hes looking out for himself, cuz if he doesnt no one will. He's juss doing wuts best for him. so juss chiiiiiiiiill.

  9. floyd is ducking cotto because hes a real threat.  floyd has not yet faced a prime welterweight and cotto is the best boxer in that division. hes excuse not to fight him is because he aint a big draw but after fighting oscar again cotto is the only one  taht would make floyd more money.

but if they did ever step into the ring i still think floyd would win a hard fought battle by a close decision. i think cotto would bring out the best of floyd he will use all his tools and he would have to agsint a monster like cotto. floyd does have the superior skils to beat anyone .bu cotto does have the best chance of beating floyd out of anybody.

  10. This question is funny. At 140, PBF has fought and seen guy's like Cotto. They have tried the pressure and body thing. People forget, when guy's is trying to get him on the ropes, he counter to the head with the shoulder roll or holds to get out. Mayweather is a smart, mental and thinker type of fighter. PBF know's how to stick and move. Cotto still have flaws not PBF. If you want to beat PBF, you have to be smart about it. Oscar traped PBF and got caught with a couple shoulder rolls to. Cotto has stamina, defense, head movement and weak chin issue. Mosley is not a boxer and not going to bring the same things PBF brings. Mosley is good but doesn't have the skills that PBF has. It's a money issue to PBF. He dont want to be boxing because he didn't invest. That's how guy's become a stepping stone. I guess people forget that part of it. Cotto has 3 kids, PBF has 4, they better be saving. Once all the fame is over, you have mouths to feed.

    PBF vs Castillo-----pressure

PBF vs Chico (RiP) hard puncher. If PBF would have fought Chico toe to toe, Chico would have knock his head in the nose bleed seats.

Most of PBF fighter have been brawlers.

  11. they say cotto has never faced someone like floyd, and floyd has never faced someone like cotto.... it depends on who's  bias on this question... i am a cotto fan, but if mayweather pick his shots like how he did against de la hoya, den he may come out with a victory... but with cotto's power, he could pull of a knockout... he has the body blows that just kills a boxer... but knowing how good floyds run and dont get hit technique, its gonna frustrate cotto... i see it with cotto winning by points.... dats it... the reason why i said that is because floyd does not have the potential to knock out cotto... and cotto does have the power to knock out mayweather...
