  1. Dumptruck vs Tank.  Good Bigman vs Good Littleman.  On paper Tyson should win early.  He's 25lbs bigger,  faster and believe it or not, has a better chin.  Thats on paper.

What Mike does not have is Rocky's Will.  Some things to consider.  People dont realize that Rocky purposely melted down to the 189 range inorder to be more effective.  He walked around at about 210lbs.  He would be more effective against Tyson at a slightly higher weight.

CHIN:  Like I said,  believe it or not,  Mike has the better chin.  Rocky certainly could take a punch.  However,  look at the knockdowns he suffered against Moore and Walcott.  Both were the result of a solid punch.  Granted, Rocky did get up to finish off each opponent.

Tyson's stoppages have been the result of his condidioning and poor stamina, not a result of his chin failing him.  Holyfield decked an off balanced Tyson with a body shot.  Tyson has always had poor balance, the result of weak calves.  He was decked by Douglas, again the result of being worn down, not a weak chin.  He was shook by Tony Tucker but, again, a result of poor balance.  He was never hurt.

Lewis simply outmuscled him and McBride benefited from a very poorly condidioned, unmotivated Tyson.

Rocky would enter the ring at about 197max.  Mike would enter at 216.  Much higher than that and his stamina certainly becomes a factor.  Rocky would suffer an early knockdown or two.  He would rise and weather the storm long enough to bring the fight into the middle rounds.

By round 6 Marciano would begin to push back the more aggressive Tyson.   Tyson begins to lose steam on his punches.  Rocky is avoiding more of them on the inside.  Tyson is throwing single punches now, not combitions.  Rocky is landing to the body and beginning to close the gap.  He lands an occasional elbow or two as well.

If Rocky can survive Tyson's early rush he goes on to stop Mike late.  Even at his best Tyson cant match Marciano's stamina and heart.  Rocky cant match Mike's speed and power.  Rocky survives the early onslaught.

In round 9 a looping right shakes Tyson.  A series of body shots and a left to the head, a right to the chin and Mike is against the ropes.  He fights back gamely.  A few rounds later and Marciano continues his attack.  Mike has slowed down considerably.

On paper, as is,  Tyson should stop him.  In reality,  I think Rocky would train differently and close the gap in size and weight.  ALways in supreme condition, this would be the telling factor.

    Marciano by TKO in 12

  2. Marciano at 14 half stone was to light for a prime Tyson, Tyson was faster in his prime with better defense...in his prime remember

  3. If you look at your list of Tyson's fights, you'll see 2 wins and 4 losses. The two wins come against a 38 year old Holmes and a blown up 175 lb natural lightheavy Spinks. Tyson destroyed a lot of mediocre fighters. That seems to have impressed some. I don't know why. He could punch, but he didn't "destroy" or even beat anybody that stood up to him. He bullied weaker opponents but lost to those who he couldn't bully. Those who speak of Tyson's "prime" fail to realize that he lost to Douglas (a journeyman) at 24 yrs old! That is your prime!

Rocky beat everyone he faced. That's pretty d**n good. I find that pretty impressive. Of the fights you listed he is 6-0 with 5 KO's.

On paper it was a mismatch but they don't fight on paper.

Tyson is strong and would probably come out fast and try for a KO. Once Rocky survived the onslaught, Mike would be discouraged. Once discouraged Mike would hold true to form and crumble.

Marciano by Ko or TKO in the 8th or 9th

  4. rocky by ko (in his prime)

  5. Marciano would win

  6. Marciano wouldnt have lasted two rounds with a prime Mike Tyson. Period.

  7. Tyson would win. All boxers and many athletes in general have gotten faster, stronger and more agressive since Marciano's time. Boxers are no exception.

This doesn't mean that Tyson had better technical boxing skills though. Marciano did.

  8. I think Galatus is the more correct answer.... The rock weighed 180 lbs, Tyson 219 fast thunderous murderous puncher, the Rock was good man but who did he really fight in their prime?Look at Tysons fight after Spinks!!!! He defeated a great fighter in Spinks in 1 ROUND! lol he was bored after that and KING along with odd makers had to make some real money some where so Tyson was it against Buster. Look at all those old guys Marciano fought at the end. Just use some logic imagine Joe Louis at 45 going 8 rounds with Marciano. Louis at 25 would have busted the Rock up into little pebbles.  Yea he had will, Tyson got bored fighting he did something no other man did!! He captured the HEAVYWEIGHT CROWN AT 19!!!!! What the h**l where you doing at 19???? What else was there to prove, he had lost Cus, Rooney, Jacobs anyone that was close to him he had no real friends, so he just lost it man.....Tyson by far was the meanest of all Heavyweights. If you know boxing and listen to what Cus said that Tyson would be the greatest heavyweight of all time......Just for saying that Rocky was great Tyson would have pummeled him.... Look at Spinks, Holmes, Tyson was bored and in money trouble when Evander and Lennox decided to fight Tyson no one wanted any part of that kid coming up.. NO ONE!!!! Tyson would have knocked the Rock out within 5 rounds. He was a kid taking on the power of considerable much stronger men, NO ONE would knock out Tyson in his prime....NO ONE!!!!!! Done and over with.

  9. mariciano would kick his ***! theres a reason why hes undefeated people! he beat everyone! tyson beat a bunch of bums and happened to box when there was nobody good.

    MARCIANO 49-0-0(43) UNDEFEATED.

  10. Marciano had more heart, stamina, endurance and toughness than any fighter who ever lived and just is the man who refused to lose.  He had a tremendous will to win and could hit like a mule with either hand particularly his Suzy Q right hand that he knocked Jersey Joe Walcott with.  In my opinion no haeavyweight that ever lived could have survivied that punch.  Marciano was down only twice in his 49 fight undefeated career and for very short counts.  He also feared noone in the ring and he would not have feared Iron Mike Tyson either,  Tyson had a great career going with very fast hands and a terriffic punch and one of the most intimidating fighters ever.  In this fight both fighters would meet in ring center landing wicked shots.  Tyson would realize early on that he could not bully or intimidate the Rock who would fight fiercely.  In about the 8th round of a great fight, Tyson would begin to unravel as Marciano already taken all that Tyson could throw at him, rains sledge hammer punches nonstop on Tyson until the referee steps in and halts the fight with Marciano declared the winner by technical knockout.

  11. if marciano can take mikes best punch then ima have to say marciano. but tyson was a beast. their is nobody in marcianos era that faught and hit as hard as tyson did. tysons speed alone would trouble marciano.

  12. The blogbaba weighs in on the side of Rocky Marciano, and in truth I don't think it would last more than a couple rounds before Rock KOed Tyson.  I really don't believe these two ever fought at the same level.  Two different classes of fighter, and Mike is totally out classed in this one.

Marciano by KO inside 3 rounds.

  13. As the unabashed official '' Brockton Blockbuster''  homer  I must answer this question. Mike Tyson couldn't carry Rocky's jockstrap!!!!  Those who ask or answer questions saying Tyson was even remotely a great need to back off the bong. Sure if I would have fought garbage men, postal workers, part time poker dealers I could have been great! I grew up as a teenager watching Tyson and yes he was fast and vicious. But against bums! Yes just like Rocky he fought everyone out there and u cant help who u fight but there is no comparing the two. First as we know Rocky could hit like a freight train, also he was only knocked down twice, once by the man with the most kayo's in boxing history (Archie Moore) and his sheer heart and will combined with his Spartan like training are too much for'' Iron Bite'' to overcome. Rocky was a credit to this wonderful sport, Tyson was a circus freak show of the week. Rocky by kayo in 5. Take that to the bank.

  14. tyson was a bully, who couldn't handle it when an opponent stood toe to toe with him and traded.

marciano has his fair share of wars, and always prevailed.

although tyson was faster, marciano was relentless, and never gave up, wearing an opponent down and finishing him....he didn't go always looking for a one punch ko.

the rock  would eventually wear down a frustrated iron mike and knock him out between the 8th and 10 rounds.

  15. Marciano. was a humble person and a very good fighter, however Tyson a non humble person and a street fighter, so in my own opinion Marciano will defeat Tyson in 5 rounds he is the best besides Aly.

  16. It would depend on when in their careers. The early Tyson was deadly. But after that, I'd take Marciano
