Military care package ideas?

Question

My husband is about to leave his first deployment. I know to send the basics such as wipes and gatorade and personal hygiene items but i need more ideas. i would like to have ideas that get my church members involved, kinda like a potluck gift box... i dunno really there is a lot of stuff out there but i need more!!

My uncle is in Afghanistan right now.

We send him packages every so often with very random things in it...

We give him reading material, candy, cigars, beef jerky, oatmeal, and because of what they eat out there, the become kinda irragular (if you know what I mean) so we send him fibre tablets. haha

I think we sent him bubbles once... but then again, there is a chance it could expand if it's traveling by plane.

oh, and pez. pez is awesome.

yeah, that's all i can think of that we put in the last box... i know we sent more though...

Some of the ideas here were like paperback crossword and puzzle books and a deck of cards.
