I'm a 24 yo with a worthless Asso. Degree working at a deadend job at a Hospital. I want to join the Military, but all the recruters say the same thing: "not with your ashma." I only need my ashma meds once a year, tops, but that still isn't enough for the DoD. I've looked at the Peace Corps, but they want a B.S. or B.A. Any ideas for a place that will give me the experince, adventure, advancement, and direction like that in the military?

  1. There are hundreds of thousands of Defense Department civilians contributing to the war effort and our military forces every day. And many of them could not meet the physical standards for the armed forces. You might want to open your local white pages phone book, look under "U.S. Government" and find the number for the office of personnel management so you can get an application and get going.

  2. try Job Corps.

  3. How long have you had asthma? When was the last time you had an attack? If you've had asthma since you where little and haven't had an attack in years, you should get it rechecked. A career in law enforcement, like DEA, or ATF, they travel and have do some intense stuff. Lots of room for advancement too.

  4. My cousin is in the Merchant Marines...it's a decent job and a good way to see the world...

  5. if it is bad then no way will you ever get in. if it was a childhood thing then go to your doc and have him clear you. if he feels it won't affect you then have him write something saying that it is gone. the other and much easier option is to omit it(only do this if you have not had an attack for a long time/ you are in good health) i don't want you to die in bootcamp.
