Milk stained my dining table?

how did that happen? my 3 yr old decided to make art out of his milk so he poured it all over the table and started finger painting. i let it sit there for 5 minutes so i could wash up my 1 yr old then i wiped the table clean witha moist wash cloth. when i noticed that the table was bleached where the milk had just been. so can any one explain to me how this happened

  1. How long has it been since you wiped up the milk? I've noticed before that if I let milk sit on my wood coffee table, then wipe it, it looks stained. But then I come back the next morning, and it's completely dry and gone. Maybe you just haven't given it time to dry completely yet. I think the milk gets under the finish, so it needs longer to dry.


  2. i did alot of reasearch hun.. all i came up with was maybe the protein broke it down..  but try some furniture polish on it and rub a few times..good luck.

  3. This may sound silly, but try rubbing it with real mayonnaise - that's right, it has to be real. It works well for water stains and it could be worth a try for milk.

  4. This happens to mine, but after a while it goes away.
