Millet..."bird food"?

Does anyone know what millet looks like when its growing? Is it in a husk or some protective covering?

  3. Nice answers above.  However, millet is a grain that can be cooked like oatmeal or cornmeal mush.  It isn't just for birds.

    the last is california spray millet after being harvested, the type you would feed to your birds. the others are different types of millet growing, but you get the idea.

    i feed my smaller birds millet every once in a whie as a treat, they love it.
