Minerals....?

Do you think that a mineral specimen could be identified as one of these three minerals (quartz, calcite, feldspar) on the basis of color alone? Why or why not?

Answer 1

No because each of them range widely in color.  And the hardness on the Moh's scale are all different.

Quartz, for example, share a lot of the same colors with fluorite and pretty much only the face and the hardness will tell you the difference.
