Question:

Mini Schnauzer in Heat!! :(?

We rescued a Mini Schnauzer this summer from the Vet on a Military Post. We are currently on a waiting list to have her fixed as it was included in the adoption costs and just now I noticed she was bleeding just a little bit. We have no interest in breeding her and keep her with us at all times, so don't worry about that. I am just asking for suggestions. It doesn't seem like she is bleeding much, but it just started. We are hoping for the LEAST messy situation and for her to be as comfy as possible. Please help and give me all the tips you can.

  1. She sure is in heat!

Not sure what to do about the bleeding though, I only have neutered male dogs.

  2. No tampons.  Ignore the first poster.  They make dog panties that are sold in most pet stores and have disposable removable pads to insert in them.  That should keep everything nice and clean for you.

  3. You can get her some b*tch britches. that will keep her from making a mess. Make sure not to leave her alone, even in your own yard. Those male dogs are  tenacious. Good luck!

By the way, what kind of crack is the first poster smoking?? tampons???

  4. They make doggy diapers for dogs that you can put on so that it doesnt drip everywhere. I got mine from Petsmart before I got my little Doxie/Terrier spayed. They helped so much.

  5. Females bleed from the v****a sometimes with swelling of the v***a and increased urination. Don’t expect bleeding comparable to a human female.

For small dogs, it’s usually not much and you may need to pay close attention to your puppy to identify her first cycle. Other than the bleeding, the most noticeable symptom may be

male dogs hanging around your house.

The average is three weeks or 21-days. In some dogs, it lasts only two weeks while others go four weeks.

  6. diapers

  7. you should get her a nice cage and put some newspaper and grass in it. maybe a small bed. if its bigger make sure that there is a soft enviorment. thats all i can say. if she has puppies and you don't want to keep them then you should try selling them like on internet or newspaper... hope i could help a little. just make sure that she is comfy. you don't have to use diapers or tampons. that would make it annoyed. just put it in a cage. that will work. BYE!!!!!

  8. They have slim tampons you could try using. I would go for the lightest absorbancy.
